We exist because of the foundation of grace laid out by Jesus Christ through His life, death, burial, resurrection, and His ascension to connect people to God (through evangelism and worship), connect people to one another (through community and discipleship), connect people to the city (through mercy and service), and connect people to the culture (through the integration of faith and work).
The Abstract of Principles from Founders Ministries aligns with our beliefs, conviction and confession.
MINISTRY
Faith + Family + Foster
By faith, from first to last
True North holdfast to what holds all things together: FAITH. As a community we need to value our faith when the world around us aims to downplay it’s significance in our worship, homes, and places of work and play. For we know that without faith we could never please God (Hebrews 11:6), faith gives us the eyes to witness God move (Mark 2:5), faith strengthens us during trials (1 Peter 1:7), faith fuels what we do (James 2:26), and it provides encouragement to others (Colossians 1:3-4).
Throughout the Bible, the Bible focuses on faith not on what it does but what is done. For faith is the very foundation of our salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). Our faith is “from first to last.” The fountain of what we value and cherish must begin and end and everything in between and around must be faith.
Faith provides healthy families
Our faith is not limited to one’s personal life but it is expanded and experienced in community, shared with one another, in church life and in our very homes. Faith is what made us orphans to become adopted sons and daughters of God (Ephesians 1:5)! It is important to note that the Apostle Paul wrote to Titus as one who he called “my true child in a common faith” (Titus 1:4). The purpose of Paul’s letter to his “true child” is “for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth” (1:1). His concern was that false teachers would teach false hope that is already “upsetting whole families” (1:11). It is emphasized that through the faithful preaching of God’s Word believers can find hope in the promises of God. To our point, it is by faith from first to last that is preached (we never graduate from God’s grace) and the very place Paul applies the faith is in the homes of Christians. He directs his attention to husbands and wives and to parents and their children (2:1-10). To affirm the faith is to apply in our homes. To deny the faith is to ingore its power and influence in our homes. Faith provides healthy families.
A faith that fosters a community to care
It is key to know and understand the health of the church is related to the health of the families. But to stop there would be short of what God intended the church to be. I am all about being in the company of family and close friends. But God calls us to go and and help others to trust and follow Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20). The key to the health of both the church and family opens the door to foster love, hope, kindness, patience, and mercy, to show the community around us that we care and we matter to exist! Jesus did this by example, “for even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). Jesus shows us, lived it for us, shares it with us that we are to foster those God sends our way.
